A little over a month to go until 'cross season finally begins!! So far we have about a half-dozen guys from the Wheelmen who seem to be interested in racing and maybe a few more who would just like to see what it's all about. We'll be doing a cross specific ride on Tuesday nights starting soon which will focus on proper technique and will also feature 3-4 mini 4-lap races lasting about 15minutes each to work on intensity and starting. A hoot will be had by all!!
-Jim.
PS-If you're interested please give me a shout at the shop.

Who's the little guy with the hand on Tyler's back?
Taking a ride down to Marlton this Sunday to do the 1st 45 plus masters race (rain or shine) if any is going let me know. Maybe we can put together some kind of game plan against the mighty Liberty cycle and the Mombo kings.... Our race is the first race and starts at 9:30 am......

WOW...... Can you say cold! I will not set foot outside the house unless it's above 32 but what the heck it's spring time in the city. Doan and I were a little lost being the first time either of us had entered a 35+ race in the park. Normally we race in the pro 123 and due to our lack of fitness we opted for the old man race.
12 laps.............went well until I put myself in a break of 7 and blew up at the base of the hill. Doan put in a strong finish holding his own against the city boy's. At the end of the day we did Ok for our first day out.
Not a bad day for me in CP considering the rainy weather. Decent turnout. The descents were a bit scary but stayed with the field for the whole race.
The website sucks, the advance word is vague, but you owe it to yourself to check out the top-shelf cyclocross action going on at the Mercer Cup this weekend. This is the second Stop of the US Gran Prix of Cyclocross (hence USGPCX). All the domestic biggies will be there. Tim Johnson, Jeremy Powers, Ryan Trebon, Barry Wicks, Lyne Bessette, Katie Compton and so many more, including yours truly. They're racing for pride, money, series points, UCI points, starting order for nationals, a shot at going to worlds, AND to entertain you with mad skills.
Highland Park has become synonymous with mud. In the race's original location, a flood plain on the Raritan River in Highland Park, NJ, the race was very easily flooded. One year, they had two mud sections which were straight and flat and the mud was so thick and deep that almost nobody could ride it until the course started to harden up as the temp dropped.
